Marks & Spencer Marks & Spencer is a British retailer with 32 million customers across the world known for award-winning food, clothing and homeware. Although Marks & Spencer is primarily based in the Great-Britain, they sell into 57 countries from 1,487 stores. In recent years their high street stores in shopping streets and train stations have become a staple concept for the brand. As a partner Pan Oston was asked to help design and produce a new counter for the in Birmingham Airport.Marks & Spencers was looking into incorporating their successful high street store concept into airports. However, Gaining airport (airside) retail space is very difficult due to the heavy competition for key areas within airports. Therefore, it is paramount that the square meters that are gained will be used in a most optimal way. To be able to offer the full range of fresh and convenience products at the airport a customer specific counter had to be created for which Pan Oston was contracted.The solution that Pan Oston created was a counter that had sufficient space to show the fresh food offer, but at the same time it needed to be flexible enough for various other products and payment terminals.
