ACTION OPENS 3,000TH STORE

Action is celebrating the milestone of 3,000 shops with the opening of a brand new Action shop in San Rocco al Porto in Italy, centrally located in the Po Valley near Piacenza. Pan Oston warmly congratulates Action on this achievement. As preferred supplier for the check-out zones of the multinational from Zwaagdijk, we are proud to contribute to Action's rapid and successful expansion.

EUROPE'S FASTEST-GROWING NON-FOOD RETAILER

Action is Europe's fastest-growing non-food discounter, offering a wide range of over 6,000 good and surprising everyday products at low prices. Starting in 1993 as a small shop in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands, Action has since grown into one of Europe's most popular discount retailers. After the first steps abroad were taken in 2005, Action experienced stormy growth, so currently, there are already 3,000 shops in 12 countries, serving more than 18 million customers every week.

20 YEARS AS A PREFERRED SUPPLIER

Pan Oston witnessed Action's rapid growth up close. Since 2005, Pan Oston has supported the Action organisation with all issues surrounding the conversion and new construction of the checkout zones in Action shops. Initially, with traditional checkouts, but after an extensive testing phase, Pan Oston installed the first self-checkout at Action in 2020, which has since started a meteoric rise. We have continued to develop the Action self-checkout proactively and are now rolling out the second generation.

COLLABORATION AND INNOVATION

Over the past 20 years, Pan Oston and Action have collaborated closely to build an innovative and well-oiled machine for the efficient delivery and installation of complete checkout zones in Action shops across Europe. Pan Oston's support is therefore not limited to the development and construction of the complete checkout zone; our commitment to project coordination, logistics and installation has ensured that we have never missed a delivery deadline.

CENTRAL WAREHOUSING & ASSEMBLY

Pan Oston has developed a customised range of innovative checkouts, counters, self-checkouts and customer guidance systems for Action and is able to assemble any conceivable shop configuration from stock. The assembly of complete checkout zones has been carried out at Pan Oston through the Central Warehousing & Assembly process since 2015. This means assembling semi-finished products and integrating complete plug-and-play hardware modules delivered to Pan Oston by other Action partners. In addition, staging and testing of access and exit gates already takes place at this stage to be ready for immediate use on site.

EFFICIENT LOGISTICS AND SINGLE-DAY INSTALLATION

For delivery and installation, Pan Oston has developed an efficient logistics system. Following the One store, One truck principle, all supplies for setting up the complete checkout zone are loaded into one truck with a double loading floor and delivered to Action shops throughout Europe. The installation of the checkout zone can then be carried out entirely in one day, including all checkouts, counters and self-checkouts, access and exit gates, customer guidance and accessories. All elements are delivered plug-and-play, so the checkout zone is ready for use immediately after installation.
