During the Supermarket Real Estate Congress on 7 November, Albert Heijn in Aalten won the title 'Most beautiful new supermarket in the Netherlands 2024'! At Pan Oston, we are delighted to have contributed to this success with our checkout, self-checkout, and customer guidance systems. Our solutions allow Albert Heijn to offer its customers a seamless and efficient shopping experience.
The redevelopment of the Albert Heijn in the centre of the village of Aalten is an excellent example of how a village's functionality, sustainability, and character can go hand in hand. The supermarket has doubled its surface area to 2,150 square metres, in part by cleverly using the library underneath, resulting in a spacious underground car park.
But there is not just enough space for parking. You can see this right at the entrance, where there is room for a bakery in addition to the range of flowers and plants. Thanks to spaciously laid-out departments and aisles, the customer does not feel like being in a busy Albert-Heijn, an absolute perk for the shopping experience.
This philosophy also translates into the spacious self-checkout (SCO) area, accommodating 12 self-checkouts. This allows customers to check out their shopping quickly and efficiently, which is incredibly convenient during busy times. In addition, two traditional belted checkouts are available for customers who prefer more personal service or have larger quantities of groceries.
